WE think it’s unusual to try a new supplement and notice almost instant results. At Runners World Towers the place is littered with powders, potions, lotions, rubs, tablets, gels, drinks… some of them we think work, some of them not so much but any gains we get tend to be marginal or, at least, of only short term benefit.
I’ve been using Curranz capsules as a recovery aid for about three months and am a huge fan. They’re made from New Zealand blackcurrants (one of the newest Superfoods, so expect to hear more about these in the news in the months to come), and contain a plant-based compound called anthocyanins, which are high in antioxidant properties, helping to fight cell damage caused by hard training among other things.
The makers of Curranz claim that they allow you train at a greater intensity; help you recover quicker and with less Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS), and also burn fat.
I noticed a difference very quickly - after about three days, my energy levels were greater and also that I could train harder more days in a row without suffering and hobbling round the office like a geriatric with vertigo.
As for the fat burn element, I didn’t notice any visual change but research done (you can read about it on the website if you’re interested) shows that new Zealand blackcurrants can help increase fat metabolism by around 27% during low to moderate intensity exercise. But if you’re about to start training for an endurance event, I’d definitely recommend getting hold of some of these as part of your regime.
